Emergency lighting systems are installed to operate automatically and independently when the normal power supply to the main lighting fails. They serve two primary, life-saving functions.

This lighting illuminates large open areas, such as halls, open-plan offices, or factory floors. Its purpose is to reduce the chance of panic and injury by providing sufficient light for occupants to clearly see the nearest exit route.

This is the most critical function. It provides illumination along the entire path of an evacuation route, highlighting potential hazards and, most importantly, clearly marking the final exit.
