Did you know smoke alarms have an expiry date?
Most domestic smoke alarms are only designed to last 10 years. After that, the sensors inside can become less effective – meaning they might not alert you in time during a fire.
Check the manufacture date on the back or side of your smoke alarms.
If it’s 10 years old (or you can’t find a date), it’s time to replace it.
Don’t forget to test your alarms every week!
A working smoke alarm can double your chances of surviving a house fire – but only if it’s in date. Stay safe, everyone.
